This is why FC Barcelona move the ball so well

Barcelona know how to utilize the wall pass

When it comes to being able to maneuver through an opposing team, wall passes, or as some like to refer to them as a give and go, is one of the best ways to move the ball up the pitch and towards the opposing team’s goal.

One team in particular that’s so good at executing wall passes is FC Barcelona.

The video below shows just how great Barcelona was at executing wall passes during a UEFA Champions League match during the 2018-19 season against French club Lyon.

I do want to say that the main reason that Barca was so successful with their wall passes against Lyon is due to the fact that their players have almost perfected the art of passing.

Soccer is a very simple sport and many people don’t realize that the two most important skills are dribbling and passing, not shooting. If a player is weak at both, no matter what level they’re on they will struggle. They could be six years-old, 10 years-old or 20 years-old but if they are not strong when it comes to passing and dribbling they will have a hard time and it will hurt their team’s chances of playing well.

The fact of the matter is that any team that doesn’t pass the ball well won’t be able to put themselves in a position to get a shot off because they will fail to move the ball into their opponents area.

Wall passes are so effective because with soccer being played on such a large field, it’s almost impossible for one player to dribble the length of the pitch and get a shot off. Wall passes enable teams to move the ball without giving their opponents a chance to take it away. It makes it easier for a player to get around an opponent without the threat of having the ball taken away from them.

If a team can practice and become efficient at executing wall passes, they will be very difficult to handle.
