Gio Reyna might be ready for Borussia Dortmund’s first-team

USMNT’s own Gio Reyna is already impressing Borussia Dortmund over in Germany after making the move from MLS side New York City FC earlier this year.

With news that the 17 year-old Reyna is expected train with BVB’s senior squad when they kick off their winter camp in Marbella.

No one should be surprised by how quickly Reyna is moving up the ranks in Germany given the fact that his parents Claudio Reyna and Danielle Egan Reyna were both U.S. soccer players.

This is also how Dortmund operate when it comes to younger players. If someone is proving that they’re ready to play with the senior team, they will get the chance. Don’t forget that Christian Pulisic was 18 years-old when he made his move up to the senior squad during Borussia Dortmund’s winter break. Pulisic only played in 15 youth matches for the yellow and black after scoring 10 goals to go along with eight assists before moving up.

When it comes to Reyna, I wouldn’t expect him to get any playing time with Dortmund’s first-team during any of their upcoming matches, but this is certainly a sign that he could be included in their match day squad within the next year.
