Creating separation in soccer is very simple

One of the keys to scoring in soccer is getting separation

One of the most challenging things for any attacking soccer player is getting separation from a defender when they’re in position to take a shot.

I was watching a Manchester United match and saw a great goal by youngster Mason Greenwood, who made a simple move prior to scoring a beautiful goal.

If you watch the replay after he scores, you will notice that all Greenwood did was shuffle and move to the left and then quickly cut back to the right. This gave Greenwood the space that he needed to get his shot off and the rest is history.

In the game of soccer it doesn’t take much space to get a clean shot off.

Then I have another video below of a young woman who broke the ankles of the other woman who was defending her. If you watch closely you will notice that like Greenwood, her movements were very simple and got the job done.

Both Greenwood and the young lady simply switched directions quickly enough to throw the person defending them off enough to give themselves the separation that they needed.

Soccer is not a complicated game. It comes to working on your dribbling. If you’re confident on the ball the way these two players are, you can do exactly what they did.
